Old Crow River and its tributaries are meandering in the
valleys which incise the level of Plain 20 to 40 me Existence
of thick permafrost and silty character of surficial deposits
determine presence of ground ice and important role of
thermo karst processes. Thermal erosion along river channels
and lakes shorelines is the most significant as geomorphic
process responsible for the present remodelation of relief.
British Mtns. and Richardson Mtns. are characterised by
strong dissection of terrain , with densely, structuraly
controled drainage network. These nonglaciated mountains,
(at least in Wisconsian), lay in frost rubble zone, sensu
Büdel, and are characterised by the complex of periglacial
processes and correlative landforms well described from
Alaska, Northern Canada and Syberia.
The precise description of morphological units of the
presented fragment of Landsat mosaic is beyond the scope of this
paper. It should be once more stated that the regional
geomorphological analysis of Yukon Territory, required for the
map compilation, was very strongly suported by the use of
Landsat mosaics.
