Abstract
Tis paper describes the application of remote sensing to soil and land-
scape studies using clustering algorithms, carried out over an area of 2,250
sq. Km. of the provinces of Madrid and Toledo. The associations of soils and
landscape types obtained as a result of digital classification indicate that
these techniques are an important tool in the elaboration of soil survey maps.
Résumé
Cet article décrit l'application de la télédetection à l'étude des sols
et du paysage en utilisant algorithmes de clusterign. On a étudié une surface
de 2.250 Km? dans les provinces de Madrid et Toledo. Les associations de sols
et types de paysage résultant de la classification digitale montrent l'impor-
tance de ces techniques pour l'élaboration des cartes de reconnaissance de
sols.
Zusammenf assung
Dieser Artikel zeigt die Verwendung der Fernerkundung für die Bestim-
mung der Vereinigungen von Bóden und der Arten von Landschften mit Cluste-
ring. Eine Flàche von 2.250 Km? der Provinzen Madrid und Toledo ist studiert
worden. Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit zeigen die Bedeutung dieser Techniken
um Bódenkarten auszuarbeiten.
1. INTODUCTION

of using Landsat multispectral scanner (MSS) data collected on September 2,
