Abstract
This paper deseribes an investigation of the factors limiting the
precision possible with conventional close range photogrammetry.
Several problem areas have been identified, and possible solutions are
suggested; particular study has been given to the form and environmental
stability of photographic plates. Two photogrammetric tests are also
described. The first is a 'conventional! survey of a cubic space frame, using
multi-station recording, and the second is a survey of a three-axis measuring
machine using two-camera convergent photogrammetry, the machine being used as
a space frame.
