INTRODUCTION 
ISPRS Commission II, Photogrammetric and Remote Sensing 
Systems for Data Processing and Analysis, has six working 
groups, and in addition, sponsors Intercommission Working 
Group I/II. The working groups are: 
II/1, Analytical Instruments 
II/2, Photogrammetric Digital Image Processing Systems 
II/3, Systems for Analysis of Remotely Sensed Data 
II/4, Systems for Reception, Recording, Preprocessing, 
Archiving, and Dissemination of Remotely Sensed 
Data 
II/5 Systems and Instrumentation for Synthetic Aperture 
Radar Processing 
II/6, Integrated Photogrammetric Systems 
I/II, Acquisition and Use of Space Photographic Data 
These groups are involved with analytical instruments, 
digital image processing, radar processing, remote sensing, 
data obtained from space, and integrated photogrammetric 
systems, and because of the diversity of their activities, 
some exchange of basics is needed. 
Working Group II/1 is concerned with Analytical Instru- 
ments and has five subworking groups to pursue eight 
objectives: 
o Testing procedures for analytical instruments 
o Update of analytical plotter evaluation guide 
o Standardization 
o Reference manual for analytical instruments 
o Handbook of assembled material 
o Liaison with manufacturers 
o Analytical instruments for new applications 
o Analytical monoplotting systems
