In contrast to a hardware system the software based processor uses off-the- 
shelf computers for the generation of the products. The planned configura- 
tion is depicted in Figure 2. From a software point of view the basic dif- 
ference to a hardware processor lies in the fact that a high-level-language 
compiler goes along with each CPU. Therefore, this type of processor is more 
flexible, it can be adapted to new requirements and the software is portable 
to the latest hardware. With the emerge of even faster array processors like 
the 10 Gigaflops ETA 10 real time processing can be achieved.
