Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the International Society for Photogrammetry and
Remote Sensing (ISPRS), we present you with the Proceedings of 40%!
the Commission II Symposium, "Photogrammetric and Remote
Sensing Systems for Data Processing and Analysis." The
following papers are from the prepared technical sessions that
correspond to the general activities of the Commission II
Working Groups. Since all sessions were plenary in nature and
to broaden the perspective of all participants, the initial
session for each of the seven Working Groups was led off by a
tutorial on the subject matter of the Working Group (WG).
In addition to the WG technical sessions, two Manufacturer
Forums were held to inform us of the latest instrumentation
available on the commercial market. To encourage open
discussion of relevant issues facing the sciences of
photogrammetry and remote sensing, two panels of experts
generated significant interaction with Symposium attendees.
Unfortunately their words of wisdom were not recorded for these
Proceedings. All in all, the aim was to communicate to you the
current status and future trends of photogrammetric and remote
sensing systems that are used for data processing and analysis.
The symposium was sponsored by both the ISPRS and the American
Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. An undertaking
such as this was greatly enhanced by the following
organizations:
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Defense Mapping Agency
U.S. Geological Survey
U.S. Army Engineer Topographic Laboratories
Potomac Region of the American Society for Photogrammetry
and Remote Sensing
For those of you that were unable to attend, these Proceedings
will convey the high quality of the technical program and the
advances being made in our science today. Our gratitude goes
out to all who have contributed to the success of the
Symposium, authors, speakers, honored guests, exhibitors, ISPRS
Council and participants. Special thanks are offered to the
Symposium Organizing Committee and to the Commission II Working
Group officers that prepared the technical program.
