ABSTRACT
In spite of its high spatial resolution, HRV-SPOT images present some constraints for detailed intra urban
and rural object discrimination and mapping. In this paper visual interpretation of HRV-SPOT images
assisted by image processing was performed, aiming the analysis of intra urban street patterns, industrial and
other large buildings, bridges and municipal roads. For this purpose, digital images were processed using
spatial filtering and multisensor data integration techniques. They were displayed in full resolution. The
results showed that, apart from some minor constraints that still remained, it was possible to map the objects
of interest with higher precision and detail than using only analogical data.
