ABSTRACT 
This work evaluated the application of digital enhancement techniques on Thematic Mapper 
sensor images of the Landsat-5 satellyte utilizing the Images Treatment Systems (SITIM-340) 
developed by INPE/ENGESPAGO to discriminated physiografic units in semidetailed soil 
survey of 3600 ha area of Serra do Mar-Pr. It was tested several colors composition and the 
best one (GRC1) was used to visual interpretation on geographic information system 
(SGI-INPE/ENGESPAÇO). It was used Tabulaçäo Cruzada winthin SGI to analyze several 
information planes. It was observed that the adopted procedures was efficient to better 
comprehension of environment, and to improve the definition of pedological map units.
