ABSTRACT
The loess plateau is known as the birthplace of Chinese ancient culture with splendid history and
civilization. But in recent one thousand years, because of denudation, extensive cultivation and wasteland
rotation, the plant cover encountered destructive damage, which resulted in soil erosion and unbalance of
ecological environment. For this reason, such a picturesque place was replaced by the one with spars
vegetation, sandy and arid climate, as well as erosive an poor soil since 1950s, a large-scale
comprehensive harness has been carried out, involving water and soil conservation, afforestation and
agriculture eco-environment. The achievement is great. Five countries, located in the central part of loess
plateau, are used as experimental areas in this paper. With the help of abundant remote sensing source
and ground investigation information, it makes a dynamic change analysis of forest resources and
ecological benefits. Results indicate that, water-soil conservation and afforestation take a part in
improving agriculture eco-environment. Meanwhile, the problem on unreasonable inverse transform has
been found in some areas.
