Proceedings Part 7: STANDARDS OF COMPETENCE 
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SYMPOSIUM 
  
Ihe Board of Commission VI was in session on 25 September 1982. The meeting 
endorsed the following recommendations: 
1. Establish Working Group VI-10 within Commission VI to work out details 
of instructional 
Standards for Education in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing 
and corresponding minimum syllabi for each professional and technical le- 
vel together with pre-requisite studies for the proposed curricula. The 
Chairman and the Vice-Chairmen are advised to seek assistance from regio- 
nal representatives of Commission VI where necessary, and to establish 
contact with appropriate international bodies. 
2. Advise the Working Group to generously assist the Geo-Scientific Profess- 
ions using Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in the choice of syllabi 
when such advice is requested, but not to attempt to impose or suggest 
standards for any of those professions. 
2. Direct the Working group to aim at completing the initial work three months 
before the Congress Rio de Janeiro 1984, and to ask the Board of Commiss- 
ion VI for comments on the proposed standards and syllabi. 
Lk. Direct the Working Group to update the standards and syllabi periodically 
for adapting to new developments. 
2+ Appoint as officers of Working Group VI-10: 
+ Alfred Adamec, (Australia), Chairman; 
+ Christian Paresi (Netherlands), Vice-Chairman for Photogrammetry; 
+ Caesar Voüte (Netherlands), Vice-Chairman for Remote Sensing.
