6. WHY GeoSET ? 
There is a lot of mapping and GIS software on market. that 
serves for mapping and GIS. Why then we selected not 
commercial software (as GeoSET) for our work? There are 
several reasons. 
9 Due to limitations in cost of elaboration and poor 
equipment that our Department has at disposal, we had to 
employ tools and technology, that lets us perform task 
good and at little cost. The GeoSET meets such 
requirements. 
9 To realize several tasks (photogrammetric measurements, 
cadaster, map edition and plotting, etc.) on such large area 
and in limited time period, we have to use many working 
stands. Since I am the author of GeoSET, it is only up to 
me, in how many computers and where (in office or at 
home) to install software. We do not need to pay for 
license. 
9 For some works, like digitalization of existing cadastral 
maps, sheets' edition, we engage students. This is common 
practice at university. Since we use GeoSET for computer- 
assisted learning about geodesy, photogrammetry and GIS 
(Saczuk, 1996b), our students do not have any problems to 
operate GeoSET. 
0 The greatest part of our work are phtogrammetric 
measurements, realized on several analog stereo-plotters. 
Using of GeoSET for it is good solution. It is so because 
GeoSET is probably the best Polish software developed in 
accordance with specific of photogrammetry. I have a great 
experience in designing and developing software for 
photogrammetry. My products, like DIGIMAP and GeoSET 
(Saczuk, 1996a), since 1990 were or still are used by most 
of Polish photogrammetric establishments. GeoSET is the 
low-cost, up-to-date, versatile desktop mapping system. As 
GeoSET is the system dedicated especially for 
photogrammetry and geodesy, it provides tools to produce 
digital maps mach faster, better and cheaper than 
commercial CAD software. 
9 In real work it is often necessary to adjust tools and 
technology for specific requirements. Nobody can do it so 
good and so fast as the author of software, who knows all 
its secrets. About GeoSET I know everything. 
0 It is one more reason, why I, as the manager of elaboration, 
decided to use GeoSET. It is not surprising that as the 
author of software, for years engaged in its development, I 
am interested in its promotion. Realizing such important, 
large and interesting task is the best opportunity for that. 
7. MORE ABOUT GeoSET 
GeoSET desktop mapping and GIS management system is 
designed and developed by myself, in my privat company 
GeoSOFT. It is projected to be competitive with other present- 
day commercial CAD and GIS software. GeoSET is an 
application for Windows environment. The System is 
considered the industry standard and guidelines of Common
