ABSTRACT
Canada,
Fire-blight, a bacteriological disease, demolishing some
kinds of brushwood and fruit-trees, appeared also in Germany
since 1971. To prevent its further expansion the infected wood
must early be recognized and be burned. Our task was to investi
gate the possibility of early recognition of the disease by
means of aerial photography using colorfilm and color-infrared-
film.
In this respect colored aerial photographs were taken.
From these, as a first step, in the laboratory three color
separations were made. However, a sharp distinction was not
achieved. Only after producing the differences of color densi
ties of two spectral bands, characteristic symptoms appeared.
With the cluster method differences can graphically be presented
and also combinations of spectral bands be determined, whose
density differences yield the best criteria for classification
of infected plants. To get a three dimensional presentation
(by combination of three color densities) and for improving the
security of recognition, further investigations appear useful.
