ABSTRACT 
Cartography is undoubtedly, the basis for the planning of the sustainable development of any country, province or 
municipality. With the purpose of updating and increasing the knowledge of the territory wealth and its distribution, for 
the elaboration of certain economic and statistical data that contribute to the improvement of the tax system legislation, 
and to be useful as a basis for the planning action, the province of Santiago del Estero started the execution of the 
Cartography 1:100.000 scale of all its territory. 
An agreement between the General Cadastre Office (G.C.O.), which is the provincial organization responsible for these 
tasks, and the National University of Santiago del Estero, was signed, to carry out the work. The Surveying Department 
of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Technologies is the Execution Unit. 
96 chart images result from the total coverage of the provincial territory (135,254 Km 2 ), all of them were delivered to the 
G.C.O. and received with total satisfaction.
