INDIA 4
Conclusions.—A glance at the map of India will convince any one
that the mapping task in India is one of no small magnitude. Apart from
the basic map cover, which is on the 1" to 1 mile scale and is by no means
complete, there is, and will be in the future, a great demand for medium and
large scale maps for development purposes alone, without taking into con
sideration cadastral surveys for revenue purposes. We have no doubt that the
mechanization of our survey methods, using plotting machines, will go a long
way to help us to cope with these increasing demands for large and medium
scale surveys.
