scale of 1 : 50 000. A preliminary map on a scale of 1 : 100 000, with 50 m 
contour intervals has been published. 
Glaciology. 
One of the tasks of Norsk Polarinstitutt is the examination of the glaciers 
in Norway and Svalbard. 
By application of terrestrial photogrammetry the change in volume of 
selected glaciers is studied, through frequent surveys. Studies of glacier rnove-

ment are mostly carried on photogrammetrically. In the summer 1955 the 
survey of Folgefonni, Hardangerjokulen and part of the glaciers in Jotunhei- 
men, Southern Norway, has been performed by means of oblique air photo 
graphs. Some of the photographs have so far been utilized for the plotting 
of Storbreen in Jotunheimen. 
The Antarctic Continent. 
During the Lars Christensen Antarctic Expedition 1936—1937, with 
Wideroe as the pilot, 2200 oblique air photographs were taken of the coastal 
area between 20°E and 80°E. Captain H. E. Hansen worked up the results.
