(Wheeler, 1948) pastel tones
2. Undesignated Buff, orange, neutral green,
gray
3, Algal limestone Dark gray
Color-photograph study showed that this same color
Sequence is present 5 miles northwest at the range front in
Juxtaposition with strata known to be of Tertiary age. Iden-
tifications were based entirely upon similar colors because
direct tracing methods could not be used, This correlation,
placing strata of Early Cambrian age at the range front, was
substantiated by field traverse.
Problem 2
Color-photograph study of an area adjacent to the
locality mentioned in problem 1 (Echo Canyon) showed an
interruption in the color sequence, Unit 2 was apparently
absent and unit 5 appeared to be resting upon unit l. A
low-angle fault was suspected, although the fault could not
be seen in the vertical view, and the trace of the proposed
fault was manifested only by the color anomaly. A field
investigation of this anomaly proved the presence of the
low-angle fault,
Problem 3
Color-photograph study of two flight strips over
strata of Paleozoic age indicated that many high-angle
faults are present, as the color sequences are offset. Cor-
relations between offset color sequences were easy to es-
tablish, In many places the magnitude of the relative
displacement could also be determined. Available time did
not permit detailed field checking.
Problem +
A characteristic over-all color, as seen in the
aerial photography, may be correlative with a formation, but
this color may not be shown by the hand specimen, because
