Much of the current photogeologic effort is directed toward studies in
the Colorado Plateau of Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. This vast area of
well-exposed, predominantly little~disturbed sedimentary rocks, lends itself
ideally to photogeologic study. Here the primary objective is mapping the
distribution of uranium-bearing formations, as shown in Figure |. Note how
clearly the beds are exposed and hence how easy it is to map such an area from
aerial photographs.
