DIGITAL PROCESSING OF MULTIBAND PHOTOGRAPHS FOR
CLASSIFICATION OF PADDY AND SUGARCANE
Y V Venkatesh and M.A.Mojeed"
Summary : The main objective of the present study is to test
the feasibility of computer processing of remotely sensed (ae-
rial) photographic data for the classification of two agricultu-
ral crops, paddy and sugarcane, in a part of Karnataka State.
South India. A typical color infrared frame, converted to a
color print, constituted the input data for computer analysis.
The classification technique is based on the well known maxi -
mum likelihood criterion. Results of the analysis, including
error estimates of classification, are given. It is concluded
that a full scale computer classification of paddy and sugar-
cane crops is feasible using color infrared frames.
