The performance among these fairly broad classes is adequate. 
In terms of cutting opportunity information, the classes could 
be of interest to managers monitoring the cuttings and changes 
in forest resources of relatively large areas. The distribution 
of the resulted cutting opportunities is illustrated by Fig. 4 
(d). 
In summary, it seems feasible to determine broad volume and cutt- 
ing opportunity classes from Landsat data supported by a limited 
amount of ground measurements. This conclusion is being qualified 
in the continuation of the study which also involves volume esti- 
mation and timber type mapping by using aircraft scanner data of 
variable resolution levels.
