ABSTRACT 
After one year of use the first operational results obtained with 
System 101 in matters of thematic mapping are described it concerns 
a) Forest fires in the south of France studies by supervised classifi- 
cation where one can also obtained statistics concerning burnt areas. 
b) Town planning, particularly the peri-urban zones of Paris. 
c) Revision elements for topographic maps in France and Africa. 
These results have been obtained with an image processing system 
which, starting with digital remote sensing data, produces either a thematic inter- 
pretation or a general mapping product. 
RESUME 
Aprés un an d'utilisation on exposera les premiers résultats opération- 
nels obtenus sur le système 101 en matière de cartographie thématique, à savoir 
a) Etude des incendies de forêts dans le sud de la France par classifi- 
cation supervisée et où peuvent être également fournies des statistiques quant aux 
superficies incendiées. 
b) Urbanisme : étude des zones périurbaines dans la région parisienne. 
c) Eléments de révision de cartes topographiques en France et en Afrique. 
Ces résultats ont pu être obtenus grâce à une chaîne de traitements qui, 
partent des données numériques de télédétection aboutit soit à une interprétation 
thématique, soit à une production de cartographie générale.
