In Salzburg the main emphasis has been put on the following
test areas:
o Stubnerkogel near Gastein and
o Saalbach-Hinterglemm
In the Stubnerkogel test area our team found extremely good
conditions for its work because this area become one of the
best known and analysed places in this region. Parallel to our
flights a great number of scientists were engaged in ground
explorations within the OECD projects 'Man and Biosphere' (MaB)
group 6.
This projekt delivered almost ideal 'ground truth' data to our
experiments that covered
o detailled vegetation maps
o measurement of this areas hydrology including runoff tests
with artificial rain
o soil constitutions have been analysed and chemically and
physically
o finally micrometeorological measurements were carried out.
In August we produced 9 by 9 inch photos using Falsecolorefiim.
Half a day of ground truth followed on and as result a hugly
interesting case-study was arisen which gave us a detailed in-
formation on that subject.
This Remote Sensing investigation has been evaluated independend
from the MaB group.
Thereafter a presentation of both groups data followed in December
1977 to compare both the results.
. Evaluation Method and some Typical Results

The evaluation and interpretation of the remotely sensed data was
carried our using the Aviograph Wild B8S. Different soils and
types of vegetation were drawn on a cartographic basis (Scale
1:1000). In some cases we investigated the 'status quo' of such
