An interface was built for the two way transfer

The use of the system permitted the following: /9/ 
1. Program and Data Transfer 
in essentially the same manner as a disk storage 
unit is used with a dedicated computer. 
2. Data Output 
Large data quantities as they are generated during 
DTM scanning may be put out through the media of the 
large computer. 
3. Assembler Programming 
In order to facilitate programming an assembler or a 
compiler may more easily be written on a third generation 
computer. Assembler programs or compiler programs may then 
be transferred to the dedicated computer by the link. 
4. Real Time Use of Link 
It is also possible to bypass dedicated computer operation 
almost completely.except for the input-, servo-, test-, read-, 
write-, or display operations and complete the major 
computations in the large computer.
