5. CONCLUSION
As a result of this study, the following
conclusions were obtained for water
qualities of Lake Balaton.
1) Transparency pattern extended along
south shore of the lake.
2) Chlorophyll-a, UV extinction and
oxygen saturation patterns generally
extended from the river mouth of
Zala to north-east direction.
Furthermore, for water quality moni
toring using LANDSAT MSS data, the
following conclusions are obtained.
1) The strongest correlation was
obserbed between MSS data and
transparency among those fourteen
items.
2) Instead, no correlations were
observed for suspended solid
concentrations, water temperature
and ratios of acid soluble
magnesium and phosphorus.
3) Mean values of 3x3 pixels window can
be considered to be the most
desirable signature.
4) Although there are some reports
about water quality monitoring using
band to band ratios, e.g. band4 /
band5, no special effect was
recognized in this study.
