ABSTRACT
Digital photogrammetric systems for close range applications becomes more and more important. For a lot of applications the
resolution and accuracy of standard CCD-sensors with approx. 750*500 sensor elements is not sufficient. For this reason Rollei
Fototechnic has developed a new digital camera module called ChipPack. This camera is working with a CCD-sensor with 2048 by
2048 sensor elements and an image format of 30 by 30 mm?. It is available as a black/white and color version. The ChipPack can be
easily mounted at the standard 6008 camera body instead of the film magazine. So the normal Rollei equipment, for example lenses,
can be used. The image data can be transfered to the computer via SCSI interface. All camera functions can be controlled by the
computer.
1. INTRODUCTION
The use of digital methods in photogrammetry is increasing permanently. Sucess at the manufacturing of high resolution CCD-
matrix-sensors and the resulting development of new digital high resolution cameras has given new impulses to close-range
photogrammetry, too. The possibility of high resolution image recording together with an online evaluation of the image data can be
used as well in industrial measurements (e. g. (Diewald et al 1993)(Maas 1994)) as in other fields of close range photogrammetry,
e.g in architecture applications.
The following paper describes a new digital high resolution camera system. After a description of the hardware, results from first
applications together with an investigation of the system accuracy will be presented.
