ABSTRACT
Improved sensor systems proposed for the Landsat, Stereosat and
e other planned earth orbiting satellite missions will provide image data
\ of greatly increased spatial and spectral resolution. Analyses of the
data characteristics are related to contemplated planimetric and thematic
mapping tasks. Particular emphasis is placed on the mapping potential of
image data supplied by the multispectral linear arrays proposed as
alternatives to the Thematic Mapper of Landsat-D. The possibilities for
stereo-interpretation and measurement are examined.
