SCOPE OF THE WORK
SICA II
1. PGI shall design the system, supply the equipment described in figure
3 of the present Appendix necessary and required to carry out the
project and provide technical assistance and basic training in Canada
and in Venezuela for equipment operation and maintenance as well as
specialized training for the selected applications for the MARNR
personnel.
The project includes four sub-systems with the following objectives:
1) the updating of existing 1:100 000 topographic maps:
2) the creation of a digital cartographic database which comprises
the following: the digitization, editing, formatting and storage
in digital form of some of the planimetric details contained in
updated 1:100 000 topographic maps, and of the topographic
details from existing 1:250 000 - scale maps (1:500 000 maps
will be substituted when the former are not available);
3) the creation of digital and printed regional meteorological maps
from the existing hydrologic and météorologie databases;
4) the initiation of demonstration projects and related studies on
the integration of remote sensing with a geographic information
system (GIS) to produce new thematic maps and value-added
information.
PGI work consists of the same general activities for the four
