physiographic zone and the sharpness of the drainage 
system disected by the Lenbang fault. The distortion 
known as "radar layover" is not pronounced in the 
SIR-A imagery over West Java area because of the 
moderate depression angle, 38 degrees, of the system. 
On the SIR-A imagery, the plain of Jakarta in the 
North can easily be separated from the hilly and 
mountaineous region to the south. The E-W 
distribution of ridges found in this hilly region 
complement the previous conclusion a N-S maximum 
principal horizontal stress responsible for the 
development of the structural geologic features in 
the area. 
SUMARRY AND CONCLUSION 
'The Landsat full-scene MSS imagery of West Java area 
provides information for systematic, comprehensive 
analysis and interpretation of geologic setting in
