USER DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
The WG has been oriented to pay much attention on user
development and supports. The first User Identification
Mission was held at Malaysian Meteorological Service, in
Kuala Lumpur in July 1998, and the Malaysian Earth
Monitoring WG was established on 6 January 1999, as well as
the Indonesian Earth Monitoring WG on 28 September 1998.
In these User Identification meetings, the WG activities were
introduced and interactions with those potential users from
departments of environment, disaster management,
meteorological service were made.
The WG had already two User Identification Missions to
Singapore through SINGREN ( a member of APAN) in January
and March 1999, and on 13 April the WG’s seminar is planned
to held at National University of Singapore, presented by both
the chair and the vice chair.
It is also planned to undertake the User Identification Missions
to Thailand and Australia in April and August respectively.
The figure in the next page shows the topology of current
contacts with national user groups and the planned Asian
Pacific disaster network through APAN.
