( ii ) Medium and small scale origional mapping of the area not already
surveyed.
( iii ) Revision of the existing maps on small and medium scale.
( b ) Other applications.—Photogrammetry has also been put to the following
uses.
( i ) Geological interpretation of vast areas which had never been tackted
before.
( ii ) Oil prospecting in vast part of the country.
( iii ) Soil classification.
( iv ) Forest surveys for their economic exploitation.
( v ) Flood control.
7. Technical Methods Adopted.— Areal line method (graphical) has been
mostly used in mapping. Height and planimetric control has generally been fixed by
terristrial methods. For small scale surveys, heights have been computed from oblique
photographs also. For certain mapping planimetric control has been provided by slot
ted templet.
Photogrammetric instruments have been introduced in the country very recently.
Some productive work has been carried out with these instruments. These instru
ments are fully accepted in training the personnel.
For stereoplotting planimetric and height control for all the models has been
provided on the ground. Neither any special triangulation nor any height control has
been attempted on these instruments, but we soon hope to do so.
