Chacun des facteurs courants d’aérophotographie pouvant entrer dans la composition de l’équation fondamentale, fait l’objet d’une échelle par ticulière sur la règle. Les échelles sont orientées de façon à être utilisées, dans la résolution des problèmes courants, sans devoir être inversées, c’est-à-dire sans avoir à retourner la réglette dans son logement. Gi-dessous, à titre expérimental, la résolution d'un problème type : Soit un avion volant à l’altitude de 2.000 mètres et prenant des clichés 48 x 24 cm. avec un appareil de 50 cm. de focale. Calculer : 1° La longueur couverte sur le sol par le petit côté du cliché; 2° La longueur couverte par le grand côté; 3° La surface couverte; 4° L’échelle de la photographie. Les deux facteurs de base sont l’altitude (2 km.) et la focale (5 dcm.). On place donc ces 2 facteurs en concordance (fig. 5) et on lit les résultats cherchés en face des troisièmes facteurs connus.
