The possibilities of new optical systems for mono- and stereoin
terpretation of aerial photos and satellite images.
A description is given of the "Zoom Sight 20 x", "RK 820" and the
"Stereo Measure Interpretation SMI 2" (a stereo sensor). All three
systems have been developed and produced by KERN & Co.
Aarau /Switzerland.
With the aid of fixed programs and interpretation keys to be
applied on a case-to-case basis as well as the provided periphe
ral equipment will more or less cover a wide range of questions
in the field of aerial photography and remote sensing, thus
solving problems within a short period of time and on a scien
tific basis.
Apart from the determination of target coordinates, it is possible
to change the image reproduction which affects the resolution,
enlargement, image section determination, focusing and gray-
level distortion.
Such manipulations may include the following functions: Posi-
tiv/negative switching, gamma correction, black-level control,
brightness adjustment, detail intensification, image rotation
and accurate point marking.
By means of examples from daily use the possibilities of these
systems are presented as aids for mono and stereo interpretation
with both analog and digital applications.
